The library also maintains several special collections, including the Kentucky History Room and the Craig Buthod Author Series. In recent years, LFPL has expanded its digital offerings with e-books, audiobooks, and online databases. The library system is funded primarily through local tax revenue and operates under the direction of the Louisville Metro Government.
