The Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) is a state agency responsible for the supervision and rehabilitation of juvenile offenders in Texas, United States. The agency was created in 2011 after the Texas Legislature merged the Texas Youth Commission and the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission. It operates five facilities throughout the state, including Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex, Giddings State School, Evins Regional Juvenile Center, McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility, and the West Texas Juvenile Detention Center. With a staff of approximately 4,000, TJJD is committed to meeting the needs of the juvenile justice system in Texas by promoting public safety and developing evidence-based practices to reduce recidivism and support positive outcomes for the youth in their care.
